Room It Up - Dorm Decor Wholesale
Thursday, August 9th, 2007I’m a big fan of black damask lately, so I loved what I saw over at Room It Up. They have a line of lap desks, and in my mind, the cutest one is this black and white piece:

They also have a number of towel sets, cosmetic cases, throws, and school stuff. If you cater to a lot of kids and parents sending kids off to college, you should look into their line. To be considered as one of their retailers, you’ll need to fill out their retailer application form.
Quintana Roo - Rustic Elegance Wholesale Home Decor
Wednesday, August 8th, 2007If you’re into copper, cacti, and other rustic home decor, you should give Quintana Roo a call to get a look at their catalogs. They have a variety of “aged” and treated pieces in copper and tin, which is a very trendy look in a lot of homes these days. Take a look at this piece:

Even better, there’s no minimum order to get started, so you can test a few pieces without investing a small fortune.

Causari - Cool Laptop Bags & Luggage, Wholesale
Wednesday, August 8th, 2007Sometimes, big corporations make it easy to compete. If you’ve ever gone into a Best Buy looking for a cute laptop bag, you know what I’m talking about. If you’re lucky, there are one or two “girl” styles, and the rest look like bags you’d take on a camping trip. While I understand that the purpose of such bags is to protect your laptop, I don’t see why it can’t look good while it’s doing it. Enter Causari.
Causari makes all kinds of cute bags and luggage, but I was especially drawn to their laptop bags. While they do offer the “normal” blacks and blues, they also have bright sun stripes and polka dots. If you own a small store, it’s a great item to help differentiate yourself.

Ritzenhoff Dishes
Saturday, August 4th, 2007I recently heard that Ritzenhoff USA will be handling a new collection of Coca-Cola glasses, and it reminded me what a nice collection they had this year. The glass you see below was apart of their 2007 offerings.

Their line is distributed out of Illinois, so shipping is reasonable for companies on both coasts. If you’re interested in getting in touch, contact Ritzenhoff at:

Wholesale Media Products
Thursday, August 2nd, 2007If you want to carry blank DVDs, CDs, and other media products, Super Media Store can help you out. They do both wholesale and resale on items like dvd-r discs, dvd+r disks, computer hardware, storage, and even some ink and toners. This is great news for smaller resellers who can’t directly approach a huge company like Sony or Imation.
The site itself is easy to navigate and very clear. I like the fact that there are quality test results listed for most (if not all) of the disk products that they sell.
If you’d like to get in touch with Super Media Store for retail or wholesale purposes, check out their website (covered in security and verification seals, by the way) or contact them at:

Beehive Kitchenware - Darling Designs for your Kitchen
Thursday, August 2nd, 2007Whether you sell gifts, housewares, or strictly kitchen products, you can probably find a good place in your product line for Beehive Kitchenware products. While some of the pieces aren’t terribly practical (when’s the last time you used cheese markers?), others are just adorable. These Pewter Bird Birthday Candle Holders are a great example. Who wouldn’t feel extra special with those lovely creatures adorning their cake?

Housewife, but Not Looking Desperate
Sunday, July 29th, 2007It can’t be easy to be a housewife in this day and age. Even as a working woman, I’ve gotten looks of scorn when I mention things like “cooking for my man”. It’s just not that cool anymore. To choose to sacrifice both pay and respect (from the outside world, anyway) to stay home and take care of your home and family has to be a tough decision. And they say feminism was about giving women choices…
Anyway, I’m going off on a tangent. I just noticed this great line of aprons from Kitsch’n Glam. They have all kinds of cute, retro-inspired styles for both adults and kids, so you can cater to sexy housewives (and husbands, since they have men’s styles, too!) or any women who want to look cute while they cook. I love this red and black one:

Bob’s Your Uncle - Wholesale Gifts & Novelties
Sunday, July 22nd, 2007Okay, quick show of hands - Who has an Uncle Bob? While I don’t, the words “Uncle Bob” make me think of a greasy guy with a beer gut, standing over a grill in the backyard behind a doublewide (no offense to the Uncle Bobs of the world). In reality, though, Bob’s Your Uncle is a great wholesale company that sells all kinds of housewares, novelties, and gift items.
While you can’t view a whole lot at the Bob’s Your Uncle site, you can view their preview, which includes this cute pig plate set:

Wholesale Audio Books for your Store
Sunday, July 22nd, 2007Whether you do gifts, books, or general merchandise, there’s a good chance that you could sell some kind of audio books along with your other products. Granted, you may need a more specific tie-in with some types of stores, but there’s always some way to make expand your product line in the audio book direction if you’re creative.
Blackstone Audio is a great place to start if you’re looking for audio books. They can even hook you up with the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows audio book:

Femme Metale
Thursday, July 19th, 2007If you own a boutique or sell boutique-ish things online, you may very well be interested in the up and coming jewelry line, Femme Metale. I came across this article about their line, and I’m honestly surprised that I’d never heard of them before. They’ve got some really cute stuff, including this cute pirate ring:

They have a password-protected wholesale area on the site, so give them a call if you’re interested in adding Femme Metale pieces to your store:

The Mazel Company - Closeout Distributor
Wednesday, July 18th, 2007The Mazel Company is one of those truly awesome closeout sites that you can never seem to find by just searching in Google. Go ahead and try it. You’ll get a few good results, but you’ll spend quite a bit of time just sifting out the garbage. Folks, if they’re charging you $7 for a cheap t-shirt, they’re not a closeout distributor. Unless the $7 t-shirt says “Michael Stars” or “Juicy Couture” on the tag…and even then, you have to worry that it’s fake.
Alright, rant over. The Mazel Company has tons of stuff in pretty much every category that a general merchandise store might have. Since they’re a closeout store, their merchandise changes constantly - but here’s a bit of what they have now:

Wizard of Oz Napkins at The Mazel Company - Just .15/pack

Scrapbook Case at The Mazel Company - Just $7.50 each
So - enjoy browsing The Mazel Company’s site, but remember to act fast if you see something you think you could make money on. Good closeouts rarely last.

Stainless Steel Fountain - Wholesale Outdoor Products
Tuesday, July 17th, 2007It can be tough to find a good wholesaler for outdoor products. A lot of the products you see in a place like Home Depot or Lowes all come from the same, enormous companies - companies that have little to no interest in doing business with someone who won’t be placing $10k+ orders. That’s why I was so thrilled to find Unique Arts. Take a look at these sweet stainless steel fountains:

I also loved their solar products (and they have a pretty good selection):

Shag Carpet Wine Gift Bag - Arcadia Home (Wholesale)
Tuesday, July 10th, 2007Every once in a while I see a product that I just fall in love with. The shag carpet-style wine gift bag is one of those items. Now, I have no need for such a bag - none whatsoever. A gift bag for something that will be consumed in no time at all is just a waste, in my opinion. All the same, I feel compelled to buy one of these:

Wholesale Plastic Lap Trays - Austin-Abbott, Inc.
Wednesday, July 4th, 2007If you own a brick and mortar store that caters to kids and parents, you’ll love the bright colorful plastic housewares of Austin-Abbott, Inc.. While a lot of the stuff they have is really plain (stuff you could get at any Target or Wal-Mart), there are definitely some cute standouts that you don’t see every day. I like these plastic lap trays:

The best part is that their minimum order (and reorder) is just $125. At that amount, it’s not hard to give a couple of their products a try.

Wholesale Chocolate Dragees - The Cocoa Room
Thursday, June 28th, 2007I didn’t really know what a dragee was until just now, but I have definitely eaten and used them. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, a dragee is (Thanks, Dictionary.com):
1. a sugarcoated nut or candy.
2. a small, beadlike piece of candy, usually silver-colored and used for decorating cookies, cake, and the like.
Anyway, I came across The Cocoa Room, and these people are dragee-crazy. Seriously. I tried to think of a kind of dragee that they wouldn’t have, and the only one I found that they didn’t seem to offer was the “sweat sock dragee mix”. I don’t blame them for that one. Check out their yummy-looking Fourth of July Dragee Mix:

While I haven’t tasted their product, their sheer volume of choices tells me that they must be pretty good. How else could they create that many varieties without going bankrupt? Anyway, I just figured I’d write up a mention of The Cocoa Room because they made me hungry. That’s not really much of a reason, but I’m sure that someone out there will find the information helpful.
You can get in touch with the nice folks at the Cocoa Room at:

Cool Wholesale Pen Company - Xonex
Wednesday, June 27th, 2007Xonex Pens makes more than pens, but inkpens are clearly their stong suit. In addition to contemporary, affordable pens, they also carry a number of journals, office/desk storage solutions, and novelties. I’m strangely drawn to their city journals, which a colorful alternative to the ever-popular Moleskines:

Of course, if you do a lot of catalog shopping (and any retailer should, to see what products are popular), you’re probably familiar with the Xonex Sudoku mechanical pencil:

Wholesale Garden Supplies - Bavarian Kunst Ventures
Friday, June 22nd, 2007If gardening products have a place in your store, you should check out the gorgeous watering cans from Bavarian Kunst Ventures. Not many companies make unique, contemporary garden supplies, but Bavarian Kunst nails it. Check it out:

They also have some really interesting historical information on the company.

Balanced Design - Home Accessories Wholesaler
Friday, June 22nd, 2007If you read my little rant on companies that block the public from viewing their collections, you’ll know just how pleased I am to see that Balanced Design does exactly what I was suggesting that other companies should do. You can view their pillow designs on the site, but you’ll have to cough up some credentials if you want to do more than peek.
Here’s one of the many inspired, contemporary square pillows offered by Balanced Design:

Areaware - Wholesale Products by Local Designers
Thursday, June 21st, 2007New York-based company Areaware sells cool, independently-designed products from area designers. It’s just one more great way to distinguish yourself from places like Wal-Mart, Target, and the department stores…I thought this was pretty cool:

I did think this gold retainer necklace was a little weird, though…Of course, I never had a retainer, so who knows if that’s kind of a silly, sentimental thing for some people.
