Cute Sewing Kits Wholesale

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

When I think of sewing kits, I’ve always envisioned those $1 kits that you can buy at Wal-Mart. They’re usually so small that almost nothing in the kit is actually usable, save for the thread (if they even give you enough to sew a button back onto a shirt). I guess they’re alright as auto accessories for an emergency, but definitely not something you’d keep in a drawer for everyday use when you need to mend little things here and there.

Chronicle Books has new book-style kits that are bright and fun and actually functional. I can get behind these. In fact, even if I had no desire to re-sell them, I’d be interested in getting a bulk lot to give away at birthdays or Christmas. They’re very cute.

If you’re interested in re-selling them, give them a call at (800) 759-0190.

Stocking up for the Valentine’s Day Holiday

Monday, January 14th, 2008

While the Valentine’s Day shopping season isn’t quite as long or lucrative as the Christmas holiday, it’s still important to carry at least a couple of season-specific gift items. Lover’s Notes by Pardon Moi would be one great idea.

Pardon Moi Love Notes

Of course, if you prefer not to invest too heavily in seasonal products, you could instead find romantic angles for your normal products. For instance, home theater sconces can be quite romantic. The ambiance they create is tough to match. Whatever you sell, there’s probably an angle you can work.

You can get in touch with Pardon Moi at:

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

You’ve probably seen Built NY products without even realizing it. It seems like their neoprene cases are everywhere these days. What you might not realize is that they also have a great line of wine accessories. Their wine ratchet is incredibly popular, and would be a great addition to almost any gift store. Take a look:

More Holiday Gift Boxes

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

I wouldn’t ordinarily post twice about gift boxes, but these gift boxes from Parapluie Designs were just too awesome to ignore. They come in all sorts of shapes like blooms, oddly folded square boxes, and strange geometric shapes. They’re also very colorful, so they’re definitely eye-catchers in a store setting. The one below is my favorite.

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

If you’re giving any thought to your Valentine’s Day product lineup, you should definitely check out DCI Gifts. They have an entire line of red, pink, and heart-shaped products that are perfect for the holiday. The best part is that most of them are totally functional, so they’re easy to justify purchasing. Take a look at this adorable dish scrubbing brush. I love the little rhinestones on the back of the head.

Monday, November 5th, 2007

If you sell many fine pens, you’re probably well aware of Helios pens from Boing Designs. Their magnetic pens make great fidget-tools and conversation pieces for your desk, and even better business gifts. At $29.99 for the sleek wooden designs, they’re very reasonable, too. Take a look:

A Mean Gift for the Local Wino

Friday, October 26th, 2007

If you really want to torment your local wino, get him the Don’t Break the Bottle game from Family Games. Of course, that’s kind of mean, so you could just stock these evil wine bottle puzzles and let your customers torture their friends and family with them. I don’t know about you, but I have at least one aunt who would be pretty desperate to solve the puzzle. Take a look:

You’ve Probably Heard of the Mouserug…

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

…but have you heard of rug bags? Anapa Imports has released a line of bags that look like oriental rugs. Given the overwhelming success of those crazy rugs for computer mouses (yes, mouses is acceptable when you’re talking about computers), you may find that these bags are a hit with your customers. Like the mousepads, they’ve been patterned after real oriental rugs. Take a look:

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

The holidays are an excellent time to celebrate, and what better way to do that than with a festive seasonal beverage? If you’d like to offer mixers to your customers this holiday season, check out the fantastic line at Stirrings. I can’t vouch for the taste, but they’re definitely photogenic. I give you exhibit A:

They retail around $11, so it’s an easy splurge at that time of year. Get in touch with Stirrings at:

The Holy Grail of Retail - Unique, Profitable, Repeatable

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

If you own a small store, you know that there are few things better than finding a product that is unique to your store, has a great markup, and needs to be purchased frequently. If you’re looking for a line like that, you should definitely look into The Good Home Company. They offer an entire fragrance line that includes products like dryer sheets, laundry detergent, and hand soap - all things that people buy frequently.

Their packaging makes the items look good enough to eat (or drink, as is the case below). Remember, though, these are cleaning supplies, not soft drinks:

Wholesale Laundry Detergent

Anyway, I can pretty much guarantee that you’re not going to find these at your local Wal-Mart, so you’d probably be your only local hookup for their products. If you’re interested in contacting The Good Home Company, do so at:

Flameless Candles

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

It seems like LED candles are everywhere these days, and no brick and mortar gift store should be without them. They’re just too commonly requested. Fortunately, there are some standouts in the pack. This LED candle from Spi Inc is particularly unique. For all the LED candles I’ve seen, I’ve never seen one quite like this.

Van Gogh Starry Night Nightlight

Friday, September 28th, 2007

If you deal with an artsy clientele, you’ll love the nightlights at Ata Boy. They have models from Andy Warhol, Vincent Van Gogh, and DC Comics, among other companies. Personally, I’d be quick to carry the Starry Night Vincent Van Gogh Nightlight. It’s one of those paintings that makes even art newbies feel sophisticated.

Plastic Picnic Blanket Holder

Friday, September 28th, 2007

If you’re buying for spring, you should definitely check out these new plastic picnic (or beach) blanket stake sets. Instead of tearing up your blanket, they grab the blanket and then use a stake to secure the “grabber”. It’s another one of those “Why didn’t I think of that” ideas, especially if you’re in an area that gets sun for most of the year. Take a look:

Austin House - Hand-held Sudoku

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

As hot as Sudoku is, it’s hard for retailers to ignore it. While there are literally dozens of different handheld Sudoku toys on the market, Austin House’s is pretty neat. It comes in several colors, and the buttons are big and easy to understand. Take a look:

It folds up for easy storage in a purse or briefcase, too, so you don’t have to worry about scratching the screen or killing the batteries by leaving it on too long.

I Miss My…Luggage Tags

Friday, September 21st, 2007

Lug Tagz has been making stylish modern and retro luggage tags for some time now, but it’s only recently that they’ve released their “I miss my…” series. The tags are brightly colored and playful, and they’ll definitely help your luggage stand out from a distance. My personal favorite is the dog version, but I know plenty of people who would prefer the “I miss my shoes” tag.

The tags would make great stocking stuffers for the upcoming holiday season, and if you have a brick and mortar store, they’d probably do quite well at your checkout point.

Dolphin Backpacks and More

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

If you specialize in items for kids and babies, you probably already know about Goodnight Moon. If you don’t, you should. They have some of the cutest items you’ll ever find, including these adorable backpacks:

Dolphin BackpackButterfly Backpack

I mean yes, these backpacks might get your 10-year-old boy beaten up, but that’s not really who they’re meant for. They’d be perfect for a very young child, especially little girls (although they do have a turtle design, too).

Making Dogs Everywhere Look Like Italian Mobsters

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

FabDog offers a lot of cool products for dogs, but what really caught my eye was their collection of doggie track jackets. I’m especially fond of this red “Bada Bone” style, since my canine friends would have the white one dirty in approximately 2 seconds.

They also have an adorable, preppy argyle collection too, if you’re dog is the more classy sort.

Cabin Fever Area Rug

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

I suspect that the Cabin Fever Area Rug will be pretty popular this fall and winter. It’s cute and kitschy, but definitely functional, which is always a plus. Decor alone can be a tough sell if you miss the mark by even a little, especially in economically slow years. The Cabin Fever rug is approximately 4 feet by a little over 5 feet, so it would be fun accent piece in a family room, or perhaps even better in a teenager’s or college student’s room.
