Tuesday, September 18th, 2007As the weather cools down around much of the country, it’s time to start thinking about indoor flowers. It’s just not healthy to go through the whole winter without enjoying a bit of nature’s beauty indoors. While there are a lot of cute plants designed for indoor growth, I’m currently smitten with the Bloembox Flower Tins. For $36, customers get 6 little mini tins with seeds and growing instructions. Not bad.

Recycled Album Cover Bags
Tuesday, September 11th, 2007While it’s not particularly trendy to haul sticky soda cans down to the recycling center, it’s extremely trendy to buy goods that are made of other old stuff. Rock Musick’s recycled album cover totes are a key example. Instead of buying yet another boring, regular tote made from original materials, these bags (like the one below) use the covers from old vinyl albums. I’m not sure if that makes for a comfortable bag, but what could be cooler than carrying the most popular album of the 1980s on your shoulder?

Bundling for Greater Profits
Monday, September 10th, 2007While most of us have strategically placed two similar products together (either in a store, or online through some sort of cross-promotion), Menus & Music takes it a bit further. They do the bundling for you, pairing fun, gift-y cookbooks with music that seems to fit the theme. This holiday cookie version seems like a surefire seller during the upcoming holiday season:

It includes 18 recipes, tons of tips and extras, along with a CD of the Nutcracker, as performed by the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra. Very nice - a lot of similar collections would have gone the cheap route and used some bland studio or electronic version of the instrumental.

Sleep & Relaxation - Somna
Monday, September 3rd, 2007It seems like almost everyone has trouble sleeping at some point. Long days, stressful times, busy lifestyles…it adds up. That’s why Somna has created a set of CDs designed by a doctor to help you sleep better. If you sell gift items like candles or aromatherapy products, you could probably cross-sell Somna CDs very effectively. Their retail packaging is clean and attractive, so you don’t have to worry about quality.

Sock Monkey Journal - Wholesale
Sunday, September 2nd, 2007If you like Sock Monkeys, you’ll love this journal from Dark Horse Comics. They actually have a ton of other journals and products, too, but the Sock Monkey was my personal favorite. It’s simple and cute - the perfect place to scrawl random thoughts.

If you’re interested in carrying the Sock Monkey notebook or anything else from Dark Horse Comics, check out their page for non-comic book store retailers here.
Taste of Purple Dimpled Wine Glasses
Monday, August 27th, 2007If you sell wine or wine related products, consider carrying this nifty wine glasses from Taste of Purple. They look kind of funny, but it’s because they’re dimpled. The dimples help to aerate the wine, resulting in an all-around better taste. If you’re still curious, check out the video on their page It explains everything.

New Age Fido - Bodhi Toy Dog Toys
Thursday, August 16th, 2007Truly, we have all lost it. I was never totally on board with the whole new-age trend, but I recognize the appeal there. And of course, it’s very profitable for a lot of small business people. These toys from Bodhi Toys take it to a whole new level, though. Toys like these Mendhi Balls and Shanti Sticks bring that kind of peace to your dogs, too:

Pretty Pretty Folders
Monday, August 6th, 2007I would LOVE to get my hands on some of these awesome folders from Gina B Designs. The black and white style is so perfect for my office. It’s feminine and pretty, but definitely not too flowery. Flowerly works for some people, but I like to keep it simple. I don’t know if they’d stand up to regular office abuse, but I would certainly give them a chance.

If you’re interested in carrying these folders or any of the other Gina B paper products, get in touch with them at:

I couldn’t really find any other contact info on their site, so you’ll just have to give them a call or fill out the contact form on their site.
No More Boring Picnic Sets - French Bull
Tuesday, July 31st, 2007The average picnic gift set looks like something that you should only be allowed to use if you’re wearing khakis and tying your v-neck sweater around your neck. French Bull is fixing that problem, though.
In addition to all the great, bright houseware items that they sell, they’ve come up with this awesome kitchen set for those of us who don’t vote a straight Republican ticket, own big houses in the suburbs, or put away the whites after Labor Day.

If you’re interested in re-selling French Bull products, get in touch with them at:

Flip Clocks - Cash in on the Trend with Kikkerland
Saturday, July 28th, 2007If you’ve noticed that flip clocks have become increasingly popular, you’re not alone. Yes, there are projection clocks and LED clocks and cell phone clocks and a billion other clocks out there - but somehow, there’s just something comforting about seeing exactly where the numbers are coming from.
Clocks like this one are definitely making a comeback, and you can get in on the action thanks to Kikkerland. Kikkerland has a ton of cool and quirky items, including several different gear and flip clocks.

Stainless Steel Fountain - Wholesale Outdoor Products
Tuesday, July 17th, 2007It can be tough to find a good wholesaler for outdoor products. A lot of the products you see in a place like Home Depot or Lowes all come from the same, enormous companies - companies that have little to no interest in doing business with someone who won’t be placing $10k+ orders. That’s why I was so thrilled to find Unique Arts. Take a look at these sweet stainless steel fountains:

I also loved their solar products (and they have a pretty good selection):

What the Heck is a Nabaztag, and why would anyone want one?
Monday, July 16th, 2007Apparently, this is a Nabaztag:

It’s the latest strange, hot gadget, and it works with your wireless internet (which nearly everyone with any money at all has these days). The little guy can do a variety of things for you, including:
-Read the news (or any website)
-Alert you to new e-mails
-Sound effects
-Alert you to his moods
Basically, it’s something that no one NEEDS, but it would be easy enough to convince people that they need one. If you’re interested in carrying Nabaztag, it looks like you’ll have to use their contact form.
USB Panic Button Wholesale
Wednesday, July 4th, 2007USB gadgets are incredibly hot right now, but it seems like everyone is selling the standard stuff like USB hubs, lamps, and radios. The USB Panic Button is something totally different, and it’s actually a lot more functional than it looks. It sits on your desk until you need it, at which time you hit the panic button and get one of three things, based on the way you set it up - an A-Bomb Screensave, a screen that shows you diligently working, or “the boss screen”. You can get the USB Panic button wholesale at USB Geek Take a look:
