VOIP in your business?
By businessbroad | April 28, 2007
If you’ve ever considered using a VOIP service for your business phone, you’re definitely not alone. Years ago, I gave Vonage a try, but I wasn’t happy with it. Of course, I was using high-speed satellite internet, so my expectations were pretty low.
Now I use a cable modem, and I’m giving it some thought again. Has anyone else had any success using Vonage in their home or business? I’ve been reading up a bit on the Vonage forums, and I’m starting to feel a little better about the idea. They have a ton of information and reviews there, and it seems like I’d be able to get all my questions answered if something went wrong.

My company is using VoIP services from broadband.com, and the results are generally positive. It costs about the same as a no-feature T1-class connection would, and the virtual PBX features are very nice. We have it set up so that incoming calls route to our cell phones when we are out of the office.
The only downside is that when there is a service interruption, callers get a ‘That number has been disconnected’ error, which is more than a little annoying. Thankfully, interruptions are rare.
