Who Doesn’t Like to Be Scared?

There are few things that I like better than being scared. Every year, I spend hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars during the months of September and October, going to every Halloween-related event I can find. Seriously, I might have a problem. As a child, I had more scary books than the local public library, and I later grew into a teen that spent weeks plotting elaborate scares for my friends.

I remember reading once about Harry Houdini and the strange relationship he had with his wife. Apparently, he told her that after he died, he would do everything in his power to send a message from the other side. For ten years after his death, she held annual seances on Halloween at the Knickerbocker hotel. Unfortunately, she never heard from him and she put out the candle she had left burning since his death.

That story came to mind as I (very excitedly) watched the trailer for the new 1408 Movie. It involves a man who misses his daughter very much, and seeks comfort in the idea of the supernatural. Like Mrs. Houdini, he continues on for some time with no results. He writes a book, tells the world of his disbelief, and everything is great until he receives a mysterious postcard warning him of room 1408.

I won’t go into any more, since you can see it all in the trailer below. After watching the 1408 Movie trailer, I have spooky things on the brain. Since the movie’s not out yet, I may have to settle for sourcing a few scary products (and of course, sharing the results here).
